Newsletter depicts Obama with watermelon, ribs

RIVERSIDE, Calif.—A San Bernardino County Republican group has distributed a newsletter picturing Barack Obama on a phony $10 bill adorned with a watermelon, ribs and a bucket of fried chicken.

The illustration appears in the October newsletter of the Chaffey Community Republican Women, Federated.

It has been denounced by various GOP officials.

Diane Fedele, the group's president, told the Riverside Press-Enterprise in Thursday's edition the move had no racist intent.

She says she plans to send an apology letter to her members and apologize at the club's meeting next week.

Fedele says she had received the illustration in e-mails and decided to reprint it to poke fun at a previous remark by Obama that he doesn't look like other presidents.

4 killed in plane crash; Ex-Blink 182 drummer and DJ AM critically injured

South Carolina officials say four California residents died in the fiery Learjet crash that also critically injured former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and celebrity DJ AM.

The Lexington County coroner said Saturday that pilot Sarah Lemmon of Anaheim Hills and co-pilot James Bland of Carlsbad died. Also killed were passengers Chris Baker, 29, of Studio City, and Charles Still, 25, of Los Angeles.

Authorities say the plane carrying six people was departing shortly before midnight Friday when air traffic controllers reporting seeing sparks. The plane headed for Van Nuys, Calif., went off a runway, through a fence and crashed on a nearby road.

Barker and DJ AM, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, were in critical condition at a burn center in Augusta, Ga., about 75 miles southwest of Columbia, hospital spokeswoman Beth Frits said.

At the crash site Saturday, the air was still heavy with the odor of jet fuel. A trail of black soot led off a runway, across a five-lane road next to the airport and up an embankment. The nose of the aircraft was gone and the roof was missing from two-thirds of the charred plane.

Barker and Goldstein had performed together under the name TRVSDJ-AM at a free concert in Columbia on Friday night.

"It's absolutely terrible and tragic," Columbia Mayor Bob Coble said.

The show, which included performances by former Jane's Addiction singer Perry Ferrell and singer Gavin DeGraw, drew 10,000 people into the streets of Five Points, the neighborhood near the University of South Carolina, Coble said.

Neither Ferrell nor DeGraw were in the plane, their representatives told AP on Saturday.

One concertgoer said TRVSDJ-AM's performance was unique and different.

"It was literally one of the best shows I've ever scene," said Brett Flashnick, a freelance photographer who works for The Associated Press and attended the concert for a local newspaper.

Barker, 32, was one of the more colorful members of the multiplatinum-selling punk rock band Blink-182, whose biggest album was 1999's CD "Enema of the State," which sold more than five million copies in the United States alone.

After Blink-182 disbanded in 2005, Barker went on to form the rock band (+44) — pronounced "plus forty-four." He also starred in the MTV reality series "Meet the Barkers" with former Miss USA Shanna Moakler, to whom he was married at the time. The show documented the former couple's lavish wedding and life. Their later split, reconcilation and subsqequent break-up made them tabloid favorites.

Goldstein is a popular DJ for hire who at one time was engaged to Nicole Richie.

Barker and Goldstein performed as part of the house band at the MTV Video Music Awards earlier this month.

i get alot of questions every day about my hair.. wut i do.. how i curl it.. blah blah.. dont get me wrong i dont want to sound conceited or stuck up but honestly its like man again? it gets kinda old cuz its not really a big thing to me? so heres my personal tips.

1. call me a black girl cuz i only wash my my twice maybe three times a week at the most. No seriously.. my coworker waynisha (who is black) said how your curls stay in everyday? im like i only was my hair twice a week.. shes like ahh u got that black girl syndrome. lmao.. so yea.. not only is it healthy for you to NOT wash it everyday but the longer you can wait the better especially if your hair is chemically treated (dyed, permed, etc). By not washing your hair it allows the natural oils to make their move and rehydrate your hair.

2. CURLS? i dont know what it is but my hair holds curls REALLY well. like totally. smd. lol.. i can curl my hair and it will stay in curls for the next 3 days.. and you already know i dont wash my hair everyday so theres your answer. I dont really add anything cept a lil hairspray and thats it.

3. Long hair? this has to be most popular question by far everyday. "is that your real hair?" smfd. honestly whens the last time you seen a latina / or white girl with extensions or weave? ofcourse this is my real hair..

4. good products = greater hair =]

Antioch Soldier Killed By Bomb In Iraq
ANTIOCH (AP) ― An Army soldier from the East Bay was killed by a bomb in Iraq on Thursday, according to the Department of Defense.



Sgt. John D. Aragon, 22, of Antioch was killed in Kadamiyah, Iraq, of wounds suffered when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device.



He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 75th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, on the Kentucky-Tennessee border.

this is my first post and im skoolin u cats on elote! yeaaa pronounced eh-loh-teh, some spanish for you folks. I am such a beaner and the one thing that i absolutely LOVE about being a beaner is our amazing cuisine. haha... Elote is like a snack to most. It's simply a corn on the cob (-on a stick-) and usually it has mayonaise spread on it with mexican cojita cheese and some kinda chili powder. can you say mmm??? ofcourse you can choose whatever you want on it ex. minus mayo/add cheese/minus chili powder.. wuteverrr... sounds gross cuz of the mayo but it's actually soooo good. Atleast its not dog right? =]
